Theresa Chiles

Living in Michigan for all of my adult life, it is only natural that I would gravitate towards nature and the lakes for inspiration.

After graduating with a degree in Fine Arts I took a job recruiting for a local art college and travelled the country, putting off my own creative pursuits.

Now five years retired, I am fully immersed in art and nature thru gardening, painting, and traveling to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Exploring the shorelines and rocky beaches of the lakes and tending gardens blooming with native plants and shrubs results in abundant inspiration for art making.

Capturing nature thru paint and plaster I found a medium for abstract interpretation onto canvas. My objective is to create soothing and restful minimalist design, and forms filled with texture, line, and rhythm. The mixing, and spreading, the use of a variety of tools all converge into a memory of a place once visited on a sunny day, with sand between your toes and wind in your hair.
